Skilled Nursing, Rehab, and Long-Term Care
Long-term care is a vital part of today's healthcare continuum, offering care that's broader in scope than what's usually available at home but is a "step down" from a hospital stay.
Today, nursing homes offer skilled nursing care, rehab services, and personal care to people with complex or chronic medical conditions; people recovering from orthopedic surgery or injury, cardiac events, or strokes; and frail seniors who can no longer live safely at home.
In contrast to the "retirement home" of 20 or 30 years ago, today's nursing homes are vibrant, home-like, activity-filled facilities that focus on resident health, independence, and the best possible quality of life. Most people are surprised to learn that about 51 percent of the people admitted to a nursing home return home or to another living arrangement.

In the News
Swine Flu Update
At Berkshire Healthcare Systems, we are dedicated to providing excellent health care to the communities we serve. Consistent with this effort, we encourage you to be educated about the H1N1 virus, often referred to as swine flu, in an effort to protect against the potential spread of the virus. The Massachusetts Department of Health website and the Federal Centers For Disease Control offer updated information. As always we ask family members and others who are experiencing symptoms of the flu, cold or other potentially contagious illness to refrain from visiting our facilities.
